All About Bluefin: https://patrontech.screenstepslive.com/s/LExPMHelp/a/917304
Bluefin is a payment processor we've partnered with to bring secure credit card transactions to PatronManager. This article will serve as an introduction to Bluefin, as well as a guide to other articles on more specific tasks like:
- How you'll take payments with Bluefin's credit card payment devices
- Day-to-day tasks, like reconciliation and chargebacks
- How to keep your data safe through PCI compliance
Accepting credit cards with Bluefin
P2PE, or point-to-point encryption, safely transmits credit card data from Bluefin-supported payment devices. These devices encrypt data inside the device itself, before sending it to PatronManager. This is the safest way to take credit card payments for you and for your patrons. You'll need at least one Bluefin device to take credit card payments. Click here to learn more about your device options, and when you're ready to order, submit a case in the Client Community.
Day-to-day with Bluefin
Reconciling your disbursements
Bluefin disburses payments every banking day at 12:00 AM EST for funds transacted 3 banking days prior. Every day, Bluefin emails you a summary of your credit card transactions; you'll also receive a monthly report that lists your monthly Bluefin and credit card fees.
For full instructions on how to reconcile in Bluefin check out this article!
PM fees
If you're on a per-item fee payment schedule, we'll collect those fees directly from your bank account on file. We'll request a debit from your bank account and send you a settlement report corresponding with that debit every Wednesday. You'll see the funds deduct on Thursday or Friday, depending on your bank's ACH policies.
Dealing with chargebacks
Because your organization has a direct merchant relationship with Bluefin, you're able to handle some chargebacks on your own. Check out our how-to article to get the process rolling.
PCI compliance
PCI compliance refers to the security standards merchants (that's you!) adhere to, keeping their cardholder data safe. These worldwide standards are set by the Payment Card Industry council (consisting of companies like Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX).
PCI compliance protects your patrons' card data; moreover, you can be fined for non-compliance. You'll need to complete a couple tasks each year to stay PCI compliant, so check out our How to Get (and Stay!) PCI Compliant to make sure you're fully protected.
