MailChimp's Built-In Salesforce Integration and Why You Should Never Activate It: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/986886
MailChimp is a great email marketing platform that can integrate with PatronManager via Beaufort 12's Mailchimp integration.
Because the integration is custom-built to work with PatronManager, MailChimp's less specific Salesforce integration doesn't work to connect MailChimp to your PatronManager account.
In this article, we'll cover:
- Why MailChimp's built-in Salesforce integration doesn't work with PatronManager
- How to turn off the MailChimp Salesforce integration
- What the MailChimp for Salesforce app is and why not to use it
Never enable MailChimp's Salesforce integration. It can break your ability to process transactions in PatronManager.
What's the big deal?
MailChimp's built-in Salesforce integration uses an extraordinarily high number of API calls to move data between the two systems. You can think of it like this: it talks to Salesforce (i.e. PatronManager) non-stop, and ties up the "phone line."
API calls are also used to do things like process transactions and you have a rolling 24-hour limit. Under normal circumstances, you use a minuscule percentage of that limit for everyday PatronManager activity (typically less than 5%). Turning on MailChimp's Salesforce integration can max out your 24-hour limit in a matter of hours.
When that happens, you lose the ability to process transactions. You won't be able to sell tickets or process donations, online or internally, until you drop back down below the 24-hour limit.
Whoops, I turned it on! How do I turn it off?!
1. Log in to your MailChimp account
Ok, but what about the MailChimp for Salesforce app? Is that different? Can I use it?
You may come across the MailChimp for Salesforce app on the Salesforce AppExchange.
It's not compatible with PatronManager, so you should not install it. Use the B12 Mailchimp integration instead!
