In order for digital membership cards to be sent to members, either automatically or manually, you'll need to set up at least one Digital Membership Card Email Templates.
While you can set up as many different templates as you wish, you can also use merge fields to customize templates so that one template can be used for multiple different Benefit Levels.

Create a Digital Membership Card Email Template

4. Set up the basics
Set the basic settings for your template:
- Name: The name you wish to give your Digital Membership Card Template; for internal use only
- Active: Check this box to ensure this template is available for selection
- Default From Email Address: The organization-wide address that will appear to as the sender for members in their inbox
- Subject: The subject line you want members to see in their inbox
Edit a Digital Membership Card Email Template
To edit a template, go to an existing template and click Edit!
From here, editing the template is the same as editing other automated communication email templates, and we have detailed instructions on how to do this available for you!
When you create a Digital Membership Card Email Template, make sure to include the Benefit: Digital Card Link merge field! This will ensure that members receive their card in the email.
Merge Fields for Digital Membership Card Email Templates
Merge fields are a great way to fill out your templates. Instead of spending time creating a Digital Membership Card Email Template for each Benefit Level, use merge fields to save yourself time!
Your account is set up with some essential fields from the following five objects via the "Merge tags" option in the editor:
- Contact
- Account
- Benefit
- Benefit Level
- PatronTicket Settings
Here are the specific merge fields available for Digital Membership Card Email Templates:

- Contact: Email: The email address on the member's Contact record
- Contact: First Name: The first name on the member's Contact record
- Contact: Last Name: The last name on the member's Contact record
- Account: Account Name: The name on the member's Account record

Benefit: Digital Card Link: A button with the link to the member's digital membership card
- Make sure to include this in your template to ensure members receive their card in the email
- Benefit: Expiration Date: The expiration date on the member's Benefit record
- Benefit Level: Benefit Level: The member's Benefit Level name
- Benefit Level: Digital Membership Card Details: The Digital Membership Card Details field on the member's Benefit Level
- Patron Ticket Settings: Digital Membership Card Address: The Digital Membership Card Address field from PatronTicket Settings
- Patron Ticket Settings: Digital Membership Card Info URL: The Digital Membership Card Info URL field from PatronTicket Settings
- Patron Ticket Settings: Digital Membership Card Org Details: The Digital Membership Card Org Details field from PatronTicket Settings
When you create a Digital Membership Card Email Template, make sure to include the Benefit: Digital Card Link merge field! This will ensure that members receive their card in the email.
This merge field generates a button in the template that contains the link to the digital membership card.
Do not add this merge field onto a button element in your template. Since the merge field already creates a button, adding it onto another button can cause issues with your template.
