How to Enable Membership Auto-Renewal

Are you ready to turn on membership auto-renewal for some (or all!) of your memberships? If so, you've come to the right place.

In order to enable membership auto-renewals, we'll:

  1. Check the language in auto-renewal email template
  2. Adjust our Membership Price Levels to enable auto-renewal

Ready to get started? Let's go!

1. Check the Membership Auto-renewal Email Template

A new Classic Email Template called the Membership Auto-renewal Email Template will go out to members with auto-renewing memberships when a Pending Renewal order is created 30 days prior to their Benefit's Expiration Date.

Before enabling membership auto-renewal, you'll review this template and optionally add any custom language you wish.

The Membership Auto-renewal Email Template can be found in Setup!

1.1. Go to Setup

From here you can edit the template as you wish

Here's what the default template looks like

Everything except for the "Renewal Details" box is editable in this template.

2. Enable auto-renewal on Membership Price Levels

To enable auto-renewal, update the Auto-renewal field on the Membership Price Levels you want and Save your changes!

Auto-renewal options

You can set the Membership Price Level for Auto-renewal with the following options:

  1. Disabled: Auto-renewal will not happen for memberships purchased at this Price Level
    • This is the default if no selection is made
  2. Optional: Default Off: Members must check a box to choose to auto-renew
  3. Optional: Default On: Members much uncheck a box to opt out of auto-renewal
  4. Required: All memberships purchased at this Price Level will auto-renew

Updating the Auto-renewal field on an existing Membership Price Level will not make auto-renewal apply retroactively for already-purchased memberships!

Memberships will auto-renew based on what the Auto-renewal field was set to at the time of purchase.
