Send Targeted List Emails with Emma in PatronManager: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1319270

Alright, you've decided on Emma for your email marketing system, you've got it connected to your Salesforce/PatronManager account, and you're ready to send an email - great, now what?

Time to start sending targeted lists, that's what! In this article we'll cover the general process for sending an email, and link you to additional documentation where it's helpful:

  1. Build a targeted list in PatronManager
  2. Sync that report with an Emma Segment using B12's Import Wizard
  3. Head to Emma and build/send the email

This article is intended only for clients on the new B12 Emma for Salesforce connector! If you've been using Emma prior to November 2020, you may still need to make the switch. Click here for more information about the new connector, how to install it, and more.

1. Build a targeted list in PatronManager

First, you want to get the list of patrons who together who you'll be sending the email to in PatronManager.

It's time to run a report! But which should you run? You've got some great options:

No matter which report you use, be sure to include the Email field as a column before you move on to the next step.

Use a Pre-Loaded Report

The Reports tab contains every report in your system, including some packaged PatronManager reports that are a great starting point to build your targeted lists!

Make sure to always Save As to make a copy of these pre-loaded reports before making any changes--that way you'll always have the original version to reference.

Use CRM Snapshots

CRM Snapshots are pre-built, easy-to-use reports that help you find the most important segments of your audience. Patrons who came to a particular show, lapsed donors, and more are right at your fingertips!

Then, once you create your CRM Snapshot, you can save those results in a report to use with Emma.

Build your own

Of course, you can always build your own custom report. Just be sure you include the Email column!

2. Sync that report with an Emma Segment using B12's Import Wizard

Here's where the magic happens - this is how reports from PatronManager get turned into email lists in Emma!

Once you're done with your report, head to the Emma tab and start using the Import Wizard. B12 has some great documentation (and even a short animation) to help you get started!

Note that you can only have up to 500 Emma Groups.

3. Head to Emma and build/send the email

Emma, like other email marketing tools, has beautiful templates and an easy-to-use email builder. Once you've built your email, choose to send it to the Emma Segment you've synced. Great job!
