Send Targeted List Emails with Emma in PatronManager:https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1319270
So you're using Emma, MailChimp, or Campaign Monitor for your email marketing system, you've got it connected to your Salesforce account, and you're ready to send an email - great, now what?
Time to start sending targeted lists, that's what! In this article we'll cover the general process for creating a data source, importing it to your email marketing platform, and link you to additional documentation where it's helpful:
- Build a targeted list in PatronManager
- Sync that data source using B12's Import Wizard or Data Wizard
- Head to your email marketing platform and build/send the email
1. Build a targeted list in PatronManager
First, you want to get the list of patrons who you'll be sending the email to. How you put that list together depends on what data source you choose. Overall, we recommend Reports as your primary data source for putting together your email lists. You can also consider using a List View or Salesforce Campaign if you wish.
No matter which report you use, be sure to include the Email field as a column before you move on to the next step.
Use a Pre-Loaded Report
The Reports tab contains every report in your system, including some packaged PatronManager reports that are a great starting point to build your targeted lists!
Make sure to always Save As to make a copy of these pre-loaded reports before making any changes--that way you'll always have the original version to reference.

Use CRM Snapshots
CRM Snapshots are pre-built, easy-to-use reports that help you find the most important segments of your audience. Patrons who came to a particular show, lapsed donors, and more are right at your fingertips!
Then, once you create your CRM Snapshot, you can save those results in a report to use with your email marketing platform.

Build your own
Of course, you can always build your own custom report. Just be sure you include the Email column, as well as any other fields you need to map to your email marketing system.

2. Sync that report using your B12 integration
Here's where the magic happens - this is how your data source from PatronManager gets ported over to your email marketing system.
B12 has some great documentation (and even a short animation) to help you use their tool. See the table below for links to the article related to your integration.
| Emma | MailChimp | Campaign Monitor |
|---|---|---|
| Import Wizard | Data Wizard | Import Wizard |
Some of B12's documentation uses Leads as their example.
Rather than Leads, you'll be using Contacts in most cases.
Having trouble syncing? Make sure you included the Email field in your data source!
3. Head to your email marketing platform and build/send the email
Each of the three email marketing tools have beautiful templates and an easy-to-use email builder. Once you've built your email, choose to send it to the segment you've synced.
