How to Redeem a Stored Credit Voucher: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1045340
This article describes a non-supported workaround.
Our recommended best practice is to use gift cards instead of stored credit. For more information, check out our All About Gift Cards / Gift Certificates article.
So you've already set up the Stored Payment method - great! Now it's time to redeem that stored credit.
You'll proceed depending on if the stored credit voucher is:
- Of equal or lesser value than the order total
- Of greater value than the order total
Equal-value redemptions and redemptions with an upcharge
If the value of the gift certificate or voucher is less or equal to the value of the ticket(s) the patron wants to purchase:
All you need to do is exchange the voucher for the ticket. If there's an additional amount due, the patron can pay that with the payment method of their choice during the exchange. You're done!
Redemptions with a remaining balance
If the gift certificate or voucher is worth more than the tickets the patron wants to purchase:
There are a couple more steps involved in that situation, to ensure that you're tracking the patron's remaining balance for future use.
In the example below, our patron David Rose has a $150 value Stored Credit voucher. He wants to use that voucher to purchase $125 worth of tickets to another show.
1. Refund the Stored Credit Voucher to stored credit
If you don't see "Stored Credit" as an available refund method, you may not have it set up yet - you'll need to head over to this article before you can proceed.
1.1. Sell the tickets and use the Stored Credit Payment Method
Take note of the Order Total - we'll need that for the next step.
1.2. Sell a new voucher for the remaining stored credit amount
In this example, David has used $125 of his $150 stored credit to purchase tickets to Halloween: The Musical - in order to keep track of the remaining stored credit balance, we'll sell a stored credit voucher. If you haven't done that before, here are instructions!
If there aren't any price levels set up in the Stored Credit event that reflect the remaining stored credit balance, you can do one of two things:
- Create a new price level for the remaining amount and sell to that price level
- OR sell to the closest price level and use an ad-hoc discount to reflect the remaining stored credit balance
In this example, we've sold a $50 Stored Credit voucher and used an ad-hoc discount to bring the value down to $25.
