How to Apply a Discount Code to a Ticket Order

Has your organization set up discounts for your patrons to use? You can use those discounts while selling tickets in person or over the phone via the PatronManager Box Office. Let's see how!

At the end, we also have a few important notes.

1. Add tickets to the cart as you normally would until you get to the Buyer Information screen

2. Click on the "Choose Discount" drop-down menu and select the appropriate discount

Any Discount Codes applicable to the items in the cart will appear in the drop-down menu.

3. Click "Apply"

The discount will apply to all items currently in the cart.

4.  Boom! Your Discount Code is applied

Alternatively, if you want to more selectively choose and apply Discount Codes, go to the Big Cart

1. Click Edit Cart

2. Select the items you want to adjust, add, or remove a Discount Code for

3. Select how you need to edit the Discount Code

Manage Discounts or Clear Discounts
  1. Clear Discounts to remove the Discount Code from the selected item(s)
  2. Manage Discounts to edit or add a Discount Code to the selected item(s)

3.1. If you select Clear Discounts, you'll receive a pop-up asking you to confirm

3.2. If you select Manage Discounts, you'll receive a pop-up to add or change the discount applied

Select Discount Code or Ad-hoc
  1. Select Discount Code to select an applicable Discount Code from the drop-down menu
  2. Ad-hoc allows you to add an ad-hoc discount, where you can select the Type and amount

3.3. After managing the discounts, click Apply Changes

4. Click Back once you've made changes to go back to the Buyer Information screen

After the Ticket Order is fully paid for, you can see the name of the Discount Code used on each individual ticket

To do this, hover over the Discount amount in the completed Ticket Order.

Important Notes

  • New items: if you later add more items to the cart and want the discount to also apply to them, make sure to re-select and apply the Discount Code so that it also applies to the new tickets in the cart.
  • Multiple discount codes: you can apply multiple codes to the same order, but multiple discounts will not apply to each ticket in that order - the best discount applied will "win" for each applicable item.
  • Code combinations: if you want to use a Flat, Fixed, or Percentage discount in the same order as a Buy X, Get Y Free discount, just make sure to always apply the Buy X Get Y one last.
  • Automatic Member Benefits: if the patron purchasing tickets has Benefits, they may get automatic discounts. You can still add Discounts to their order here; the system will automatically apply the "best" discount possible.
  • Buy X, Get Y Free Discounts: when this discount is used on an order, the cheapest item eligible for this discount will become the free item
