How to Enable QR Codes on Printed Tickets: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1379896

In order to scan printed BOCA tickets at the door, you'll need to enable barcodes on your Point-of-Sale tickets. This can be set up automatically for all events, or on a per-Instance basis.

In this article, we'll:

  1. Enable the barcode feature in PatronTicket Settings
  2. Enable barcodes on a per-Event Instance basis
  3. Test print some tickets to make sure the barcode looks good

This should take no more than 30 minutes - ready?

While these steps will add QR codes to the tickets you print in the box office, we suggest also enabling Mobile Tickets. Mobile Tickets always include QR codes!

First, enable the barcode feature in PatronTicket Settings

Before we can start using barcodes, we need to turn on the feature. Let's go!

2. Click Edit

3. Find the Barcode Feature field near the top of the page and enable the feature

You've got two choices:

  1. All Event Instances: All Point-of-Sale tickets will include the barcode in the ticket design.
  2. Select Event Instances: You'll need to enable barcodes for each Event Instance (i.e. each performance)

4. Click Save

Update Event Instances (if necessary)

If you chose "Select Event Instances" on the previous step, you'll update each individual Event Instance to include a barcode on the ticket.

Navigate to each Event Instance and check the "Barcode Enabled" checkbox:

Before selling tickets, check the placement of the barcode

It's always good to print a test ticket whenever you're making changes like this!

Add tickets to a test order, save it as a reservation, and print tickets

If you're not sure how to do that, we've got a handy step-by-step tutorial right here.

Note: since ticket layouts can differ for general admission vs reserved seating, it's a good idea to print both kinds of tickets (if you sell both kinds, that is).

Be sure to delete the Order when you're done - and just in case you forget, it's a good idea to an obvious test Contact (or your own name).

This will bring up the printing menu, where you can print a test ticket to check the placement of the QR code on your Point-of-Sale ticket layout.

Ack! My tickets don't look right! Now what?

If the QR code on your Point-of-Sale tickets is overlapping text, or if you'd like to move it to a different part of the ticket design, use the Ticket Design Tool to move the QR code on your ticket design!

If you find that the QR code doesn't fit right on the legacy Print-at-Home PDF ticket, it's time to switch to Mobile Tickets! The Print-at-Home PDF ticket will be retired soon.
