Mobile Tickets: the Patron/Visitor Experience: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1737462

Mobile tickets provide an effortless experience for your patrons and visitors. They can easily pull up their tickets on any device, add them to their Apple or Google Wallet for easy access, or print them if necessary. They can even take a screenshot of a ticket and text it to their fellow attendee if they're arriving separately.

When they arrive at your venue, scanning mobile tickets is quick and easy: the tickets have a barcode that's optimized for scanning - no pinching or zooming required!

Plus, mobile tickets are fully accessible for assistive devices like screen readers, ensuring a great experience for everyone.

Here's a complete visual guide to what your ticket buyers will experience when your organization enables mobile tickets.

Ticket buyers who select "Email" as their Delivery Method can access their tickets quickly and easily in a variety of ways.

They'll see a "View your tickets" link on the confirmation page of your Public Ticketing Site:

They'll also have a button in their confirmation email:

And if you process an exchange and send them an exchange confirmation email, that'll have the same button so they can access their new tickets:

If you use PatronPortal, the link is available in the patron's Order History to show all tickets (only Orders with "Email" as the Delivery Method):

You can also manually email tickets from any order, regardless of the Delivery Method. That email will look like this:

Finally, if you add a merge field to your pre-show email, they can access their tickets for the relevant event from that reminder email, too:

Whichever of the above options they click, they'll wind up in the same place: on the online ticket page. This is set into the frame of your Public Ticketing Site (which means they can easily buy more tickets after they save their current tickets!).

On a regular computer, the page looks like this:

On a mobile device, it looks like this:

How do they save and use their tickets?

From the online ticket page, your patron has a few options:

1. They can add their ticket(s) to Apple or Google Wallet

To add a ticket to their mobile wallet, they'll tap the relevant button on a device that has a digital wallet enabled. That will generate their ticket:

They can then add the generated ticket to their device's wallet:

If they miss this step, the ticket is not added to their wallet - but they can always try again from the online ticket page!

Once the ticket has been added to their wallet, they'll land back on the online ticket page. Each ticket has to be added to wallet separately, so they can repeat the above process for each ticket.

Adding a ticket to their Apple or Google Wallet is recommended - here's why:

  • These tickets appear automatically on the patron's device shortly before the Event Instance Date - no more hunting for tickets.
  • Apple and Google Wallet automatically brighten the device screen when showing a mobile ticket, which makes it easier for you to scan at the door.
  • Google Wallet tickets update automatically if you make any changes to the Event (e.g. if you reschedule the show, change the Event Name, change the mobile ticket image, and so on).
    • Apple Wallet tickets are more like a printed ticket - they will not update if you make changes, but the patron can remove and re-add the ticket if necessary.

2. They can take a screenshot

On a mobile device, they can scroll so the ticket and barcode is fully visible, then take a screenshot to save a photo of the ticket on their device. They'd repeat this process for each ticket.

How to take a screenshot varies by device type. For example, on many iPhones you press the side button and volume up button at the same time, while many Android phones use the side button and volume down button simultaneously.

This option can be useful if the patron wants to send a specific ticket to their friend - they can take a screenshot and send it via text message.

It's also helpful if the patron doesn't use Apple or Google Wallet but wants to ensure they can access their mobile ticket at the door without an internet connection.

3. They can print their tickets if necessary

If their device is connected to a printer, they can use the "Print" button at the top right corner of the online ticket to print their tickets.

Tickets will print in black and white, with no background color and no images/header - saving ink and reducing paper usage. All details on the tickets will print, and multiple tickets will print per page.

4. Or they can use the online ticket on their mobile device as-is

They can pull up the online ticket (for example, from the link in their pre-show email) when they reach your venue. The ticket automatically sizes to display and scan easily on mobile devices.

This option requires an internet connection, so if you don't have wifi or cell connectivity at your venue, attendees should use one of the previous options instead!

Scan the ticket and admit your patron, and they're all set!

That's all there is to it! You'll scan their ticket at the door, the scanner will tell you if the ticket is valid, they'll be marked as "Attended" if it is, and off they go.

All versions of the ticket scan the same way, and work interchangeably unless the ticket itself is invalid (refunded, exchanged, or for the wrong event).

That means it doesn't matter how the patron decides to use their ticket - via their Apple/Google Wallet, the online ticket itself, a screenshot, or a printout will all work just fine.

The scanner will alert you if you scan a ticket more than once, preventing a patron from using multiple copies of the same ticket.
