You've switched to Lightning, and all your colleagues have said goodbye to Classic - congratulations! In this article, we'll remove old Classic buttons from various page layouts. You've got actions now, so no need for those buttons anymore - and they don't work in Lightning, anwyay.
Here's what we'll do:
- Remove buttons from the Opportunities related list on Account page layouts
- Remove buttons from a few related lists on Contact page layouts
- Remove buttons from the Payments related list of a few Donation page layouts
This should take about 20-30 minutes.
Removing buttons from page layouts in Lightning also removes them from Classic. If you still have colleagues using Classic, they won't be able to complete business critical functions without these buttons.
1. Remove buttons from Account page layouts
Let's remove buttons from the Opportunities related list on the Account page layouts.
1. Click on the gear and go to Setup
2. Go to the Object Manager tab and click Account
3. Go to the Page Layouts tab in the left panel, and click on Household Layout
4. Scroll down to the Opportunities related list and click on the wrench
5. Expand the Buttons section
6. Check the "New" button, remove all custom buttons from the Selected Buttons column, and click "OK"
7. Click "Save"
8. Repeat steps 1-8 for all Account page layouts except TBQ Account
2. Remove buttons from Contact page layouts
Now let's remove buttons from the Opportunities, Recurring Donations and Ticket Orders related lists on the Contact page layouts.
1. Click on the gear and go to Setup
2. Go to the Object Manager tab, then search for and click on Contact
3. Go to the Page Layouts tab in the left panel and click on Patron Contact Layout
4. Scroll down to the Opportunities related list and click on the wrench
5. Expand the Buttons section and do the following:
- Standard Buttons: Check "New"
- Custom Buttons: Add New "Credit Card Donation" to the Selected Buttons box
- Click "OK"
6. Now, click on the wrench on the Recurring Donations related list
7. Expand the Buttons section, check the "New" box and click "OK"
8. Now, click on the wrench on the Ticket Orders related list
9. Expand the Buttons section and set the following:
- Standard Buttons: Uncheck all the standard buttons
- Custom Buttons: Add Create Ticket Order to the Selected Buttons box
- Click "OK"
10. When you're done, click "Save"
11. Repeat steps 1-10 for all Contact layouts except TBQ Contact
3. Remove buttons from Donation page layouts
Finally, let's remove a button from the Payments related list on the Grant, Group Sale, and Pledge Donation layouts. Expand the section below to learn how.
1. Click on the gear and go to Setup
2. Go to the Object Manager tab, then search for and click on Donation
3. Go to the Page Layouts tab in the left panel and click on Grant Layout
4. Scroll down to the Payments related list and click on the wrench
5. Expand the buttons section
6. Remove the "New Grant Payment" button from the "Selected Buttons" box, and click "OK"
7. Click "Save"
8. Click on Group Sale layout
9. Scroll down to the Payments related list and click on the wrench
10. Expand the buttons section
11. Remove the "New Group Sale Payment" button from the "Selected Buttons" box, and click "OK"
12. Click "Save"
13. Click on Pledge Layout
14. Scroll down to the Payments related list and click on the wrench
15. Expand the buttons section
16. Remove the "New Pledge Payment" button from the "Selected Buttons" box, and click "OK"
17. Click "Save"
