How to Enable Salesforce Notes: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1999181
Salesforce has a Notes feature that allows you to take notes related to records, like Contacts, Accounts, and Donations. If you'd like to enable Notes, you can do so with a few steps!
In this article, we'll cover:
Enabling Notes should take about 5 minutes.
How to Enable Notes
Enabling Notes is as easy as checking a box!
Go to Setup
Find and select Notes Settings
How to Add Notes to Page Layouts
Once you've enabled Notes, you'll need to add Notes to your page layouts. You can add the Notes related list and New Note action to the page layouts you'd like!
Additionally, you can add the New Note action as a global action!
Of course! We've got more detailed steps depending on what exactly you're looking to do.
1. Go to Setup
3. Find and select the object where you want to add the New Note action
In this example, we'll add it to Donations, but you could add it to Contacts or Accounts!
5. Select the Page Layout you wish to edit
In this example, we'll update our regular Donation Layout, but you could select any of the page layouts you wish.
If you're updating the page layout for Contacts or Accounts, do not make changes to the TBQ Account or TBQ Contact!
Repeat steps 5-8 for any other page layouts you need!
How Can We Use Notes?
You can use Notes for a variety of different purposes!
But one big thing to remember is that Notes are not reportable. In other words, whatever you place into these Notes will not be available in reports. We recommend only placing information into these Notes if you do not plan to report on them.
Want something similar to Notes, but that you can report on? Consider custom fields!
Here are some ideas for using Notes:
- Bios for major donor, VIP, or artist Contacts to help your team prepare for calls or meetings
- Specialized information for school Accounts to let your education team know detailed information, such as holiday breaks
- Organization information for business or foundation Accounts for your development team, like relationships members of your organization may have with the business or foundation
There are many more ways you can use Notes. If you'd like to hear about or share more ways, reach out to other clients via the Client Community!
