PatronManager vs. Salesforce: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1153900
Ever wondered what the difference between Salesforce and PatronManager is and how they relate to each other? Salesforce is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform, and PatronManager is the app we've developed to use that platform for your non-profit's needs.
This article will provide an overview of Salesforce and PatronManager. Specifically, we'll answer the following questions:
- What is Salesforce?
- What is PatronManager?
- How do I distinguish standard Salesforce objects from custom objects?
- Where can I go for help with Salesforce and PatronManager?
What is Salesforce?
Salesforce is a platform originally created to help salespeople manage their leads, convert those leads into clients, and offer long-term support to foster retention.
Salesforce is customizable, which allows developers to create apps that can be integrated with the Salesforce Platform. PatronManager is one such app.
Who uses Salesforce?
Salesforce is huge! Over 150,000 companies worldwide use the platform, including:
- Amazon Web Services
- T-Mobile
- US Bank
- Coca-Cola
- ADP
What is PatronManager?
PatronManager is a really big app on the Salesforce platform.
In addition to standard out-of-the-box Salesforce objects, PatronManager comes with a number of packaged custom objects tailored to an arts organization's daily business functions, including Ticketing, Memberships, Donations, and more. In essence, the PatronManager app transforms Salesforce from a sales experience to a non-profit experience.
Who uses PatronManager?
Clients like you! This includes performance art spaces, theaters, museums, film festivals, and other arts organizations.
How do I distinguish standard Salesforce objects from custom objects?
As we've learned, Salesforce comes with standard objects, like Accounts, Contacts and Campaigns. PatronManager likewise comes with packaged custom objects tailored to our clients' needs, like Ticket Orders and Ticketable Events.
To quickly see which objects are standard and which are packaged, we'll take a trip to Setup.
2. Go to the Object Manager tab
3. We have arrived! To tell which objects are standard or custom, look at the Custom column
- Standard Salesforce Object: Doesn't have a check mark in the Custom column
- Custom Object: Displays a check mark in the Custom column - that means it came from us (PatronManager), from another app you've installed, or that you've custom built
