Security Tokens: What They Are and How to Find Yours: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1555653
A security token is an automatically generated key that is sometimes necessary when you are logging in to a third-party app that connects to Salesforce.
New security tokens are automatically sent to you when your PatronManager password is changed or when you request to reset your security token.
In this article, we'll cover:
- How to check for your most recent security token
- How to reset your security token
- Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Check for a security token from the last time you changed your password
To do this, search in your email for the words "security token" and pull up the most recent email with the subject line "Your new PatronManager security token" or "Your new Salesforce security token"
You'll find your security token in that email and you can copy and paste it into the application that is calling for it. The email should look something like this:
Resetting your security token
If you don't find an email like that, or if you just want to reset your security token for any reason, you can always manually reset your security token.
1. Go to your Profile avatar and click Settings
4. You'll receive your new security token via email!
Note that you'll have to update your security token wherever it's used, like any third-party applications.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I'm receiving security token emails for a username that isn't mine!
If you receive security token emails for a username that isn't yours, like the username for our PatronTech Admin user, then you likely set up a Compliance BCC Email. Any address set as a Compliance BCC Email receives copies of every outbound email message in your system, including security token emails.
The security token for the PatronTech Admin user, which the PatronManager team uses to provide support and upgrades to your account, updates everyday. If you receive these security tokens every day, your email is probably set up as a Compliance BCC Email.
You can disable a Compliance BCC Email to avoid receiving all security token emails or change the address that all emails go to from Setup.
What are some third-party apps that use security tokens?
There are several! Some common examples are Formstack and Dataloader.io.
