Why Can't I Delete My Event?: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1010602

Every so often, you'll need to delete an Event in your Event Inventory.  Maybe you're honing your Event-creating skills with a few practice Events, or perhaps you want to clean up your Event Inventory.

It's usually fairly straight-forward to delete an Event. However, if a ticket has been sold to an Event (yes, even a refunded test order), it's not possible to delete it.  This article will walk through what happens when you can't delete your Event, and what you can do instead.

To delete an Event, click the "Delete" button on the Event in Event Inventory

Click "OK" to confirm you really want to delete the event

Did you run into an error after you clicked "OK"?  Read further to figure out what to do when you come across one of these errors.

Error that mentions tickets being sold

Error:
This Ticketable Event may not be deleted, because tickets have already been sold to one or more of the Event Instances for this Event. Please note that this restriction applies even if you refund these tickets.

This error essentially says that since tickets have already been sold to Event Instances for this Ticketable Event, the Event can't be deleted.

Deactivate the Event instead

1. Click "Edit" on the Event

2. Uncheck the "Active" box

3. Set the Sort Order field to a high number, like 999

When you set a high Sort Order, Event Inventory will put the Event toward the bottom of the list so it's out of the way.

4. Click "Save"

Error that mentions too many Event Instances

Error:
The Event is too large to delete. Please delete some of the individual Event Instances before trying again.

You may receive an error message letting you know the Event is too large.  In that case, delete a few Event Instances one-by-one before trying again.

Delete Event Instances

2. Click "Delete"

3. Click "OK"

4. Repeat this step for a few more Instances

Once you've deleted a few Instances, try to delete the Event again.

Error that mentions Foreign Key Error

Error:
Delete Restricted By Foreign Key Error

You may receive an error message saying that you are restricted by a foreign key error.  In that case, delete any related child records, usually Member/Passcode Access relationships, from your Event Instances.

Delete Child Records

2. Scroll down to the Member/Passcode Access section

3. Click "Del" next to one of the relationships

4. Click "OK"

5. Repeat this step for any Instances with Member/Passcode Access relationships

Once you've deleted all the Member/Passcode Access relationships, try to delete the Event again.
