How to Create Order Source-Specific Ticketing Links: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1062231
Sometimes people might arrive at your ticketing page from somewhere other than your home page, especially if you're posting ticketing links on Facebook or giving them to affiliated organizations. Wouldn't it be great to know every time someone buys a ticket via one of these links? You can! This article shows you how.
Create your custom URL
1. Find your starting link
If you'd like to link to one of your landing pages (for Events, Subscriptions, or Memberships), start by clicking the link on the PatronTicket Hub to reach your Public Ticketing Site:
Then click the header of your choice on the PTS to reach that landing page. In this example, we want a direct link to the Subscriptions landing page, so we'll click "Subscriptions" in the header:
When you're on the page you want, copy the URL into your clipboard, and move on to step 2.
2. Paste the link into your text editor
We recommend Notepad++, but you can use your favorite.
Do not use something like Microsoft Word, a draft email, or a Google Sheet. These kinds of document editors can take specific symbols in the URL and do funky things when you paste them in.
3. Add your custom Order Source value to the link
Add
?orderSource=whatever
in between the "/" after "ticket" and the "#" like so, replacing "whatever" with your custom value:
A few things to keep in mind:
- Capitalization matters here: be sure you type "orderSource", not "ordersource" or "ORDERsource"
- Spaces are not allowed, but you can use underscores as in the example above
- The Order Source can be anything you want - it does not have to be an Order Source value that is otherwise available to your patrons. This means you can make a unique Order Source for each of your marketing initiatives without cluttering up the list of selectable options in the Order Source picklist.
4. Copy and paste your new link wherever you want to post it!
On Facebook, in your e-newsletter, etc.
5. Patrons will purchase tickets normally, but they will not see the "How Did You Hear About Us?" field at checkout
Everything else will look normal. They can also click around on the ticketing site and purchase more things if they want; the Order Source value their starting link contained will stick around.
