Some venues require certain sections be sold as Reserved Seating and other sections be sold as General Admission. Depending on your needs, there are two ways to set up in PatronManager. This article covers how to use each option:

Set up Split Seating for Individual Event Instances

We recommend this option when you have a small handful of performances that require split seating.

You'll create two Event Instances for each performance that requires split seating - one marked as Reserved and one as General Admission. When purchasing tickets on your public ticketing site, your patrons can select the Event Instance with the seating type they're interested in.

1. Create a Reserved Seating/Pick Your Own Seat Event Instance.

Adding "Reserved Seating" to the end of your Event Instance name helps your patrons know which seating type they're purchasing.

You should add a link in the Detail field that directs your patrons to your PYOS Event Instance (ex: "you're buying a reserved seating ticket! Want a general admission seat instead? Click here!")

2. Create an Allocation, and give it a name like "SOLD SEPARATELY AS GA" and set Sale Status to "Not For Sale"

3. Click "Reallocate Seats" button

4. Select the section you want to reserve for General Admission, and use the drop down to select your "SOLD SEPARATELY AS GA" allocation, then click "Next - Reallocate Seats" button

Your selected seats will change to your new allocation color when complete

5. On the Ticketable Event for your Event Instance, you will create a new Event Instance for your  General Admission seats

6. Set your Start, End, and Instance Date fields to match your Reserved Seating event

Make sure to leave the Venue field BLANK so that the seating type will be set to General Admission.

Adding "General Admission" to the end of your Event Instance name helps your patrons know the seating type for the event.

You should add a link in the Detail field that directs your patrons to your PYOS Event Instance (ex: "you're buying a general admission seat! Want a reserved seat instead? click here!")

7. Create a new Allocation using the "New Ticket Allocation" button and set the Original Quantity field to match the number of seats that are reserved in your "SOLD SEPARATELY AS GA" Allocation.

8. Create Price Levels for your new General Admission Allocation, and then click "Save"

Once you've created your Reserved Seating and General Admission Event Instances for your Ticketable Event, your patrons will be able to see both options displayed on your public ticketing site

Your patrons will choose between a Reserved Seating and a GA version of the same performance
Patrons selecting your Reserved Seating option won't be able to select your General Admission seating section
The Reserved Seating Event Instance will make it clear that patrons should go to the other listing to buy seats in the GA section
Patrons selecting General Admission will be able to select their tickets, while not purchasing any of the seats in your Reserved Seating section
The GA section will be sold like any other GA listing
