How does sales tax work in PatronManager?
Here are a few basics about sales tax in PatronManager:
- All sales tax is applied the same flat percentage across the board
- Sales tax automatically applies to a ticket's face value, in other words, per Ticket Order Item
- You can choose to apply sales tax to Order-level and/or Item-level fees
Can I set up multiple tax rates in PatronManager?
No, we don't support multiple tax rates at this time. If you'd like this feature added in future, please suggest a Product Idea via the Client Community.
How do I turn on sales tax or adjust my sales tax rate?
Head over to PatronTicket Settings and click Edit
You can get there from the PatronTicket Hub, or by searching in the waffle!
How does sales tax show up on ticket orders?
In case of partial payments, when is sales tax charged?
When paying for a Ticket Order with more than one payment, sales tax needs to be covered in the initial payment. This means the first payment on an order must be big enough to cover the sales tax, donations, and fees.
Can I change the sales tax label?
Want the sales tax label to say something other than "Sales Tax"? No problem! You can rename the sales tax label via the PatronTicket Settings tab.
How do I apply sales tax to fees?
You have the ability to apply sales tax to Order-level fees and Item-level fees via the Fee Setup tab. In this example, we'll apply sales tax to an Order fee.
To learn more about fees and how to set them up, head over to our Fee Setup tab article.
Can I choose to waive sales tax on a performance?
Every so often your organization may offer a Ticketable Event that should be tax-exempt. You can check a box on the Event Instance, which will waive sales tax on the face value of the tickets, as well as any applicable Item-level fees for the event. Let's walk through how to waive sales tax on an Event Instance.
Keep in mind: At this time, we support waiving sales tax on Event Instances, but not at the order level. This means:
- Any sales tax applied to Order fees won't be waived
- If you create an order containing a tax-exempt event and an event that isn't tax-exempt, tax will still apply to all items and fees except the tax-exempt event's ticket face value and item fees
- You won't be able to waive tax on, for example, a specific group sale
