To support our clients to ticket their events in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (and similar guidance outside the USA), and to provide a welcoming environment for all patrons, PatronManager provides Seat Notes. These allow you to specify the accessibility features of a given seat, and require patrons buying online to acknowledge that they are purchasing an accessible seat.

Here's a little more information about accessible seating in PatronManager, and why it works the way it does.

What exactly does the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) say?

We are not lawyers and are unable to provide legal advice. We encourage you to read the full text yourself and seek legal counsel as needed. You can find the relevant sections here: https://www.ada.gov/resources/ticket-sales/

Can we limit how patrons can purchase accessible seating in PatronManager?

At PatronManager, we note that the ADA specifies that venues are required to sell tickets for accessible seats in the same manner and under the same conditions as all other ticket sales.

Therefore it is not possible in PatronManager to, for example, make accessible seats visible online but only purchasable by calling the box office.

Can we ask patrons to confirm that they need accessible seating when purchasing those seats?

At PatronManager we note that the ADA states that venues cannot require proof of disability as a condition for purchasing tickets for accessible seats, though venues may ask purchasers to state that they require, or are purchasing tickets for someone who requires, the features of an accessible seat.

PatronManager therefore supports Seat Notes, which generate a confirmation message asking your patrons to affirm that they require accessible seating before adding an accessible seat to their cart.

A pop-up acknowledgment appears when the seat is selected

How do I add Seat Notes to my Venue?

We usually add seat notes to your venue when we create it, so be sure to tell us about any wheelchair and companion seating.

You can also add Seat Notes to any Event Instance by clicking the "Assign Seat Notes" button in the Allocations section of the page.
