When a credit card is physically present at the time of a transaction, a credit card swiper is much faster than manually keying in the card number.

PatronManager supports one payment processors at this time: Leap Merchant Services.

Because of this, you have one option for credit card swipers: the BBPOS WisePOS E!

Additionally, we recommend a Magtek swiper if you wish to swipe STS Gift Cards.

If you need a swiper for STS Gift Cards:

You'll use the MAGTEK 21073062 USB Card Reader.  It connects to your laptop or desktop via USB, and it's quick and easy to use!

How do I get a MAGTEK USB Card Reader?

Once you receive your card reader, test it as soon as possible. This model number represents two nearly identical devices - one device with Security Level 2, and one device with Security Level 3. As you might imagine, retailers mix these devices up frequently. If the retailer ships you a Security Level 3 device, the swiper will not be compatible with PatronManager, and you'll need to return it to the retailer as soon as possible to get a refund.

If the device you just purchased does not seem to be working, reach out to us via the "Submit a Support Request" button in the PatronManager Help tab. We can help you evaluate if you received a card reader with Level 3 security.

Use

When on the Ticket Order Creation page, place your cursor in the Credit Card Number field.  Firmly holding the patron's credit card in your hand, swipe the magnetic stripe on the back through the USB Card Reader.  The USB Card Reader will read the tracks on the magnetic strip and populate Credit Card Number, Credit Card Expiration Month and Year, and First and Last Name on card.
