How to Embed a Donation Form on your Virtual Event: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1293851
If you're using PatronManager Virtual Events, you can embed a Donation Form on the player page, allowing your patrons to give without missing a beat. In this article, we'll cover:
- Creating a Donation Form for this purpose
- Embedding the Donation Form on your Virtual Event
- Frequently Asked Questions
If you're using this feature for the first time, it should take you about an hour to get your Donation Form prepared and start using it on your Virtual Events.
After they give (or if they decide not to), they can click an arrow to collapse the side panel out of view (and click again to bring it back), or use the controls on the player to put the video into fullscreen mode.
1. Create your Virtual Event Donation Form
You'll need an active, V2 Donation Form to use with your Virtual Events, and we recommend creating a form specifically for this purpose.
Head over here to create a new form, and keep these recommendations in mind:
- Name the form clearly -- "Virtual Event Donation Form" will help you find it later
- You may not need the footer -- clear out any "Footer Column Header" fields you're not using
- Include your logo -- patrons using Safari will open the form in a new tab, so it's important for it to have your branding
- Match the theme settings to your PTS -- the player page takes color cues from the PTS, so use the same colors and font to ensure your embedded form matches the rest of the page
- Don't add video or images -- your patrons have other things to view on the player page!
- Remove excess fields -- for example, you might not need all the dedication fields
2. Embed the form on your Virtual Event Instance(s)
Once you have your Donation Form ready to go, add it on the Event Instance in the Virtual Event Information section:
-
Donation Label: this is the word that will appear in the side panel above your Donation Form on the player page, and allow the patron to choose between donating and chatting (if chat is enabled).
- We recommend something short, like "Donate" or "Give".
- Donation Form: use this field to select your Virtual Event Donation Form
Adding a Donation Form will only take effect for Event Instances created on or after September 1, 2020.
If you need to add a Donation Form to an Event Instance that was created earlier (or was cloned from an older Event Instance), submit a support request and include a link to the Event Instance(s).
3. Frequently Asked Questions
No: the Safari browser isn't compatible with this type of embedded content. Patrons using Safari will see the Donation Label you specified, and clicking that label will open the Donation Form in a separate tab.
Adding a Donation Form will only take effect for Event Instances that were created after the feature was released on September 1, 2020.
If you need to add a Donation Form to an Event Instance that was created prior to that release (or was cloned from an older Event Instance), submit a support request and include a link to the Event Instance(s).
