Auctions for Salesforce: Add a Custom Payment Method and Connect it to the App: https://help.pm.leapevent.tech/a/1149796
If you're using Auctions for Salesforce, it was likely configured to use the packaged PatronManager Payment Method field. These auction records will generate Payment Transactions, which, as of July 2019, prevent you from editing those auction records in ways Auctions for Salesforce might require. Additionally, this causes reporting issues between credit card donations processed within PatronManager and credit card transactions processed via the Auctions for Salesforce app.
To prevent these issues and ensure Auctions for Salesforce works correctly, we'll:
- Set up a custom field specific for auction payment methods
- Connect the custom field to the Auctions for Salesforce app
If Auctions for Salesforce is already installed in your account, this should take about 15 minutes.
We previously recommended Auctions for Salesforce to use new objects for Auctions and Auction Items to help organizations that hold fundraising auctions and want to track donated items, attendees, and manage auction purchases in PatronManager.
We no longer recommend installing Auctions for Salesforce, but if it is already active in your account, you can continue to use it without issue.
1. Make a custom Auction payment method field on the Donation
First, we'll create a custom Auction payment method field on the Donation object. Expand the section below for step-by-step instructions!
5. Fill in the following details:
- Field Label: Auction Payment Method
- Length: 150
- Field Name: Auction_Payment_Method (auto-populated based on the Field Label)
- Description: "Used to record the payment method used by Auctions for Salesforce"
- Help Text: "Used to record the payment method used by Auctions for Salesforce. Autofilled by the app."
- Click "Next"
2. Connect the Field to the Auctions app
Now, we'll connect the field we just created to the Auctions app so you can continue to edit auction records after receiving payment and ensure tidy financial reporting data.
6. Paste the API Name into the "Opportunity Payment Method" field
The API name looks like this: Auction_Payment_Method__c
