What types of gift certificates can my patrons purchase?
Your patrons can buy plastic cards, emailed cards, and even mobile cards, which are texted directly to the recipient.
Your organization can choose to offer any or all of these options. For the lowest-cost solution, you can choose to only sell "e-gifts" (emailed cards) and "m-gifts" (mobile/text cards).
You can also offer online recharging of gift cards, so patrons who already have gift cards can "reload" them with more value.
What is the cost for this program?
Smart Transaction Systems (STS) charges an annual fee for its service, and we have negotiated a discounted rate for PatronManager clients of $450/year.
This fee includes unlimited gift card activations and redemptions, and is paid annually based on the date your organization signs up with STS. Think of it this way -- you only need to sell ten $50 gift certificates for the service to pay for itself!
You can also order branded plastic gift cards, with pricing that gets more favorable the more that you order. As of June 2016, the fees are:
Initial Artwork Setup Fee: $75/card design, and then:
- 100-999 cards: $0.65 per card
- 1,000-4,999 cards: $0.45 per card
- 5,000-9,999 cards $0.30 per card
- 10,000-24,999 cards: $0.19 per card
STS works with Stripe to process gift card payments.
Stripe fees are 2.9% + $0.30 per successful card charge for both credit and debit cards for all major brands, including American Express.
What reports does STS offer?
PatronManager/STS clients will receive an email when each gift card is purchased, and STS can also send additional reports via email on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis (for the previous day, week, or month).
The main reports that STS provides are:
- The Merchant Chain Statement: Transaction-level view of all gift card sales and redemptions.
- The Gift Card Liability Summary: Overview of all active cards in your STS account.
- The Gift Card Position Report: In-depth summary of the status of every gift card in your STS account.
You may also request that STS create custom reports for other time frames.
