Faster ticket selection
Previously, adding general admission tickets on the Public Ticketing Site (PTS) required the patron to enter the quantity they wanted for each Price Level, then click "Add" separately for each one, then click "Next."
Reserved seating had challenges too: the buyer would click a seat, wait for it to be added to the cart, click the next seat, wait... and so on. To change the price for any seat, they needed to click a "Change" link, then adjust the price level, and finally after all that, click "Next." Goodness.
No longer! Now it's simple and fast.
General Admission:
Quick and easy: add quantity per Price Level and click "Next." Done!
Here's how it works as of this release:
And for context, here's how it worked prior to this release:
Reserved Seating:
Instant and intuitive: click as many seats as you like, adjust prices with a dropdown, then click "Next." Done!
Bonus: this change applies to the box office as well. Sell tickets faster on all fronts!
Here's how it looks in PatronManager Box Office with this release:
And here's how it works on the PTS as of this release:
The price dropdown menu isn't fully visible in the animated images above due to image capture limitations, but don't worry - it looks and behaves like a normal dropdown to your patrons.
And for context, here's how it worked on the PTS before to this release:
Captcha for Signup Forms
Signup Forms give you an easy way to invite patrons to join your email list and add them directly to PatronManager. On rare occasions we've seen pesky bots target one of our clients' forms, generating hundreds of spam signups with fake email addresses in the span of a few minutes. Cleaning up that mess isn't fun, so we've added Captcha protection.
The Captcha will only trigger if it detects something unusual, providing a simple human-solvable task ("click on all the trees" etc) and blocking bots. Keep adding real patrons while blocking junk data: win-win!
If you don't want to use Captcha on your Signup Forms, you can disable this feature in the PatronSignup Settings tab.
Google Analytics 4 for Donation Forms
Want to track analytics for your online gifts? With this new plug-and-play integration for Google Analytics 4, you can! Just plug in your GA4-ID, and you'll start seeing page views, donation amounts, and more in your Google Analytics account.
Other improvements and fixes
With each release, we enhance elements of PatronManager features and tidy up bits of unexpected behavior. Here's what else is new this month:
We recently added two new CRM Snapshots: one to find members by expiration date and Member Level, and another to find lapsed members with Portal logins. We then released Household Memberships in January 2023, but neglected to confirm that those Snapshots would work with the new feature. Sorry about that; now they do!
If you're using the new Household Memberships feature, you may be wondering how to tell whether the Contact you're looking at is the main Contact for that membership, or an additional member thanks to being in the same Account. Just add the new "Member Role" field to the Contact Page Layout to clear things up!
Like other auto-updated membership fields, the values update nightly. There are three possible values:
- “Main Contact” (populated for the Contact that has a direct connection to the Member Benefit record, whether Household or Individual)
- “Associated Contact” (populated if the Contact is covered by a household membership but is not the Main Contact)
- blank (if the Contact has no current or lapsed membership to display)
With this release, the seating chart is centered in the display area on the Public Ticketing Site, helping patrons quickly read the map and select their most ideal seats!
Here's an example of how a seat map would look on a mobile device after this release:
Previously, seat maps on the PTS were left-aligned. For small venues this was usually fine, but for larger venues it could be confusing and require the patron to scroll right in order to find the stage and select a good seat near the center.
Here's that same seat map on a mobile device, before this release:
In PatronTicket Settings, you can decide whether your internal Ticket Orders should send a confirmation email by default or not. This is lovely, except if you're creating an Anonymous Order for a quick walk-up sale. Before this release, the confirmation email option would automatically be set to the default on Anonymous Orders. If your default was to send a confirmation email, you'd need to collect an email address—but you can't collect an email address without adding a name, which makes the Order non-Anonymous, and, well, you see the trouble.
Now when you check the "Anonymous" box on a Ticket Order, PatronManager automatically clears the option to send a confirmation email. Removing the anonymity resets the confirmation email option to the default (which, again, is controlled in PatronTicket Settings).
The PatronManager Mobile Box Office app for Android tablets will be upgraded in the coming weeks. If you use the Android app to sell tickets via a tablet, be sure you have automatic updates enabled. When you upgrade, the app will switch over to PatronManager Box Office from the legacy Box Office Express, which was retired earlier this year.
Important: to ensure security and maintain compatibility with newer credit card readers, the latest version of the app requires Android operating system 11 or higher. If your devices are not upgradable to Android 11, you will need to change to a newer device. You can read up on device requirements here.
You can keep using the legacy version of the app on older devices through March. In April, the legacy version of the app will stop working.
When you pay for a Ticket Order with multiple transactions (e.g. to split it between cash and card, or gift card and credit card), the first payment must cover the Donation. Therefore it would make sense for the resulting Donation Record to have a Payment Type corresponding to the first transaction on the Order, right?
We thought so, and going forward now it will. Older records matched the Donation Payment Type to the final transaction on the Order, rather than the first, but new records will have the expected value.
Coming soon: a dynamic pricing integration
