It's even easier and faster to process credit card donations now.
A New Button...
We've made the process of entering credit card donations in PatronManager more logical. You'll see a "New Credit Card Donation" button added to the Donations related list on Contacts.
The new Credit Card Donation method simplifies the whole process of entering donation data and credit card information to one screen:
In the image below, you'll see each of the following steps to entering a donation:
The Donor name populates automatically for you (1). Enter the donation amount (2) and the credit card information (3). You can choose from the usual Donation Acknowledgment Options (4), and enter additional information about this gift (5), and then click "Process Transaction" (6).
If you are not seeing your custom fields, it's really simple to add them yourself!
Navigate to Setup | Customize | Opportunities | Field Sets. Click the "Edit" link for the Credit Card Donation Field Set, and then drag any fields you'd like to add from the top section to the "In the Field Set" section.
Why does it say "Single" and "Recurring"?
If your organization has already switched over to our new payment processor (about a third of our clients have, by now), you'll be able to enter Recurring Donations from this same screen. You simply need to select the "Recurring" radio button. If you have not yet switched, you won't see that option at all, but you will after you're converted. (And if you have no idea what we're talking about, read more about this payment processing change here -- scroll down.)
What about the old way of entering these donations?
You're probably used to the old way of entering credit card donations (where you'd click the "New Donation" button, enter the details, and then process the credit card on a separate screen. We are not removing that option yet. For now, you'll just see the message below whenever you go to submit a donation that way. We'll give you a few months to adjust, and then this option will eventually just disappear in an upcoming release.
