This article is old! Wouldn't you rather read something... fresher?
There may be outdated information or suggestions in this article that made sense at the time of the release, but no longer. For the most up-to-date information about this topic, use a keyword in the search bar above. If you're looking for more current release notes, you can find those here.
As a release notes article, we like to keep this around for historical reference; for the newest information about Discount Codes, check out these resources:
The new Discount Codes page looks a lot like the Ticket Orders page. You'll see a list of all your existing discount codes at the bottom, and you can filter that list at the top to find what you're looking for.
To create a new discount code, click the button in the center of the page.
Fill out the details.
Here are all the fields you'll see when creating a new discount code:
Name: for internal use, give the discount code a name so you know what it's for.
Code: the actual code you'll distribute to patrons. (Codes are NOT case-sensitive -- "FB012011" is the same as "fb012011"
Discount Type: there are three options. "Flat" means "$10 off the regular price," "Percentage" means "10% off the regular price," and "Fixed Price" means "When you use this code the tickets cost $10."
Discount Amount: the "10" in the examples above.
Start and End Date: if you only want the discount code to be valid for a limited time, fill out these fields.
Active: make sure this box is checked!
Click "Save."
Add Price Levels
Click "Select Price Levels."
Now choose all the price levels that you want this discount code to apply to. Choosing a "Price Level" in this case also means choosing Events/Event Instances/Allocations, and you can use the filters at the top of this page to narrow down the list till you're only seeing choices you want.
In the example above, we're applying this discount code to all Adult tickets for Romeo and Juliet for all February performances.
Click "Associate Selected Levels" when you're done. Then click "Done" to return to the Discount Code detail page.
You'll see all the price levels you chose.
When you look at the Event Inventory page, you'll see the discount codes that are associated with that performance.
